Excerpts from ‘Yoga Bones’ by Ade

The headings below link to excerpts from a book that seems to evolve faster than I can finish it.  One day perhaps the whole version will be available here. In the meantime I hope you find these individual chapters of interest, and if you have any feedback (good or bad) please do contact me.

Ade’s Teachers

Nancy Gilgoff –  www.ashtangamaui.com – Nancy was one of the first westerners to study with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore in the 1970’s.  She is based in Hawaii but teaches workshops around the world including the UK. I’ve made many trips to Maui to work with Nancy for extended periods since first meeting her in 2004.  I am extremely grateful to her for a wide range of insights shared in the yoga room and on her front porch.

Sonia Moriceau –  Sonia was a truly inspiring teacher of the way of mindfulness based in Herefordshire.  She died in May 2013 but remains a daily presence and inspiration to me. The community that developed around her and her partner Ad Brugman continue to run regular teaching programmes and retreats at the Orchard .

Annie Pace – www.anniepace.com – I met Annie for the first time in 2015 and was deeply impressed by her sincerity and commitment to ‘living her practice’.  If time and resources allow a trip to southern Colorado you will not be disappointed.  Go find her!

Try ‘How Yoga Works’ by Geshe Michael Roach and Christie McNally and ‘The Wisdom of Yoga” by Stephen Cope.  Both are great introductions to the full scope of yoga practice presented in an easily accessible way.
